St Thomas More Catholic School, London
We have been using SAM Learning since 2007. The Science department use the platform a lot for KS3 and KS4. A large range of Science topics available, all well-differentiated for LAPS/MAPS/HAPS. Questions relevant for revision.
Very interactive for learners and student-friendly therefore easy for them to assess knowledge with minimum supervision. Very good for home learning. Easy access for all students to complete both school and homework. Students can work at their own pace in their own time.
Reduces teacher workload due to self-marking and easy to monitor progress and usage with automated reports. Access to all exam boards is good for KS4. Some concepts that are difficult to teach through a textbook, SAM Learning makes it easier to teach due to the graphics. Very accessible for those with language challenges.
Assists with persistent absentees/long-term absentees – easy reintegration back into school from using SAM Learning. Great for intervention to improve pupil progress, knowledge, and skills. Borderline GCSE students – good for target intervention. Time limits for task completion are particularly helpful for intervention. Improves knowledge gaps and attainment. Good for EAL learners and those on ECP Plans. Science has seen movement on progress 8 since using SAM Learning for the past year.
Been a lifesaver during school closures. We have online teaching resources – SAM Learning supports massively in departments such as Science, PE, and Drama. A useful tool to set work easily and assess providing real-time reports for staff and parents has made teacher work-life balance better. Easy tool for teachers at this time. Very useful that parents can have access too and staff can also send parents progress reports and updates from automated reporting on the system.
School purchased due to the wide range of subjects it covers across KS3 and 4 – no other resources like it on the market. One tool to solve so many problems across all departments. Students can continue to learn outside of school. Students find it easy to use and it reduces paperwork therefore because it is eco-friendly and user-friendly the school continues to renew. The assessment quality for the whole curriculum is very very useful.
SAM Learning’s Three-wave Intervention – identifies learners who need support at the end of each topic – post-assessment. Long-term absentees benefit from this also as it allows teachers to target them.
Customer service is great. Brilliant – credit to SAM Learning. Every time you call there is always someone there. Service is very efficient. The technical team is excellent/outstanding. Always solve issues as soon as they can. Never any issues resolving issues/challenges and always solved within 24 hours. Very happy with the service.
I would definitely recommend SAM Learning to other schools as it is a very useful resource. It is a good tool that reduces workload for staff and easily accessible for learners and parents. The wide range of content is very good and the impact on progress is very good. The assessment materials are of a high quality that would benefit any school.
Learners have issues logging into Kerboodle and Mathswatch but never SAM Learning. Never have issues with SAM Learning, especially during school closure period. Platform that works and you can tell a lot of effort has been put into developing it.
