Nine different activity types are available for teachers to assign to learners, each identified by their own icon:
- Test Question
- Exam Paper
- Real World+
- Activity Builder
Revise – These activities are used to reinforce subject-related vocabulary, with text-heavy content and drag-and-drop questions. They are perfect for recall and lesson consolidation.
Revise + – These are more interactive than the Revise activities, using a variety of question types such as drop-down menus, radio buttons and reordering tasks. Visually engaging, these activities are great for homework and intervention.
Improve – These activities have the added advantage of sound and hints, providing additional support to the learner. In Maths and English, this helps with procedural knowledge, and in modern foreign languages will assist with accent and pronunciation.
Test Question – These simulate exam-style questions and give learners the opportunity to write free-text answers to specific topic-related questions. The learner is provided with a mark scheme to check and score their work. If the test has been set as a task, the teacher can review the learner’s answers.
Exam Paper – These enable learners to develop their exam technique. They are similar to the test questions but longer and timed, giving learners time-management experience.
Real World+ – These are contextualised activities in which learners have to overcome problems in real-world scenarios. These activities also include variants to thoroughly test the learner’s understanding of key concepts when doing the activity for a second or third time.
Share+ – These are teacher-created activities that have been selected and edited by our content team for inclusion in the main SAM Learning menu.
Share – These have been created by teachers using SAM Learning’s authoring tool. Share activities are available for use in all SAM Learning schools – over 12,000 to date. Learn more about Share here.
Activity Builder – These activities have been written by teachers in your school who have chosen not to share the content with the SAM Learning community.
